Exercise Taiaha applications close soon..

So please get yours in quick. Knowing numbers early helps our planning.

This is our annual labour weekend bushcraft camp held out of Mt White, Arthur’s Pass.

Always a highlight for the year! Basic info is on the ‘Activity Forms’ page, a detailed JI will be issued to those attending.

Help needed for Cup Day fundraising

Parents and caregivers should have received an email from our Unit Support Committee recently asking them to fill in a google form indicating how they could assist us for our Cup Day fundraising.

Thank you so much to all the parents that have already responded. We still need more helpers, so if you have not filled in the form, please do so. Below is the link:

https://forms.gle/Uz3RKnrrzPyAXZFV6

(Even if you can’t help out, please still fill in the form to indicate this).

Cadets will need to keep the evening of Cup Day (14th November) free too – for a giant emu parade at Addington after the event has finished! More info will be given directly to the Cadets this week.

Efficiency Inspection Results

Our last parade night was our annual ‘efficiency’ inspection.

We are marked across a number of different areas that indicate our efficiency as a unit e.g. do we comply with administrative requirements, do we offer varied training, are our Cadets well presented and enthusiastic etc. etc.

The results were released – and we have once again been judged the most ‘efficient’ ATC unit in the South Island! Well done everyone for your contributions to the unit.

Next term we will be assessed again – this time for the national competition. Fingers crossed!

Discounted flying available these school holidays

The Canterbury Recreational Aircraft Club is kindly offering the below deal for ATC Cadets.

This is not an official ATC activity, i.e. it is up to cadets to make contact with the club and arrange their flight. Uniform should not be worn. A supervising Officer will not be present.

We encourage you to take up the opportunity if you can. Happy flying!

Some small changes to our payment process

Credit card transaction fees have up till now been covered by the unit when purchases were made using credit card. This costs in excess of $10/cadet/year. As such, the Unit Support Committee who manage the unit finances have agreed that from now, these fees will be added to credit card transactions. This small additional fee will automatically be added when you choose the payment type “credit card” in the online shop.

(If you select “internet banking” instead, there is no additional fee added to the activity cost. If using internet banking, please be sure to put the activity name in the ‘particulars’ field, and your Cadets name in the ‘reference’ field).

Please continue to make payments through the online shop https://www.17squadronatc.com/shop/, whether using internet banking or credit card, as it makes tracking and managing payments much simpler for our treasurer.

If you have any queries around payments, please email the Adjutant on adj@17squadronatc.com, who can forward your email to the appropriate person on the Unit Support Committee as required.

Zone 67 gel blasters this week

This week the unit is going to Zone 67 and conducting an inter-flight battle. The activity will run from 1800 till 2000. There will be a $35 cost for the activity to be paid to Zone 67 on arrival.

If you’re attending, apply on CadetNet, and have this approved by your NOK by tomorrow night.

There will not be a parade at the block in Wigram this week.
