Reminder – Cup Day Fundraiser – Save the date! Tues 8th November

Addington Cup Day Fundraiser – Save the Date! Tues 8th November 2022

Parents and Caregivers, We need your help!!

Our annual fundraiser has been confirmed. Over the past few years, we have been fortunate to work with Addington Raceway to provide the rubbish clean-up service on Cup and Show day races (8th and 11th November this year).

The past 2 years Cup Days were very scaled back and this had a big impact on our annual fundraising result. Fingers crossed, things will be back to normal this year, and we have also been tasked with extra duties.

This is really our one and only fundraiser for the year and one day of decent effort eclipses the countless hours manning sausage sizzles and selling products. Without this funding, assets such as the Unit van, flight simulator and camp equipment,  as well as the low cost of subscriptions and camp fees, would not be possible.

Although November seems a long way off,  planning is underway.  So please, if you can spare some, or all of Tuesday 8th November,  your help would be greatly appreciated. So, put it in your diary for a day at the races.

We will follow up with more details and gather names of volunteers closer to the time,  but if you need any more info, or want to put your hand up now, feel free to contact me on 0272206566.

Apply on Cadetnet by Thursday 18th August

Dining In this week

There will be no parade at Wigram this week. Instead, those who have applied and paid for our Dining In need to meet at the Metropolitan Stand, Addington Raceway at 5:45 pm. Keep an eye out for the 17 SQN flag. Cadets can be collected at about 9 pm.

Ensure your uniform is of a very high standard – remember our special guest for the night is the Commandant! We noticed last week that a lot of you have grown since you last wore your 3B uniform – so make sure you get your pants hem lowered before Thursday if you need to. It will be warm in the function centre but if anyone does choose to wear a singlet/T-shirt under their shirt they must ensure that it can’t be seen.

Check out the information in the Cadet handbook under ‘Uniform’ if unsure about the correct way to iron/wear your uniform https://www.17squadronatc.com/cadet-handbook/.

The general expectations for dining in and the format of the evening can be viewed in the document below.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Dining In

On the 7th of July, 17 Squadron will be holding our annual formal dining in, instead of our regular parade night. We will enjoy a meal together, following the traditions of the NZDF. Presentations will be made, and the evening will finish with a Kangaroo Court, where “fines” will be made for various silly things done by NCOs and Cadets during this first half of the year. We have a number of special guests attending, including the Commandant of the NZCF. Applications close on CadetNet on the 30th of June. Please get your applications in ASAP to help with catering planning. The buffet dinner is subsidised by the Unit, bringing the cost down to $20. Please pay via the website shop.
