Microlight Flying Schedule

We are still awaiting a schedule from the Aeroclub for microlight flying this weekend. It will be released as soon as possible via email to cadets and their Next of Kin as well as being posted on the website. Those who sent specific timing requests to PLTOFF Townsend will be accomodated.

Cup and Show Day Fundraiser

As mentioned in last week’s notices, all cadets are required to help on Cup Day (8 Nov), and are expected to attend between 1830hrs (6.30pm) and 2000hrs (8pm) to do the final rubbish sweep.

We also need cadets to do a rubbish sweep after Show Day (11 Nov) from 1830hrs (6:30pm) to 1930hrs (7:30pm). Prioritise Cup Day (8 Nov) if you can only attend one.

The info form is available on the forms page. Please contact adj@17squadronatc.com to apply for leave if you are not able to attend Cup Day. Both events are now open on CadetNet, so please apply ASAP.

Microlight Flying

The microlight flying activity at Rangiora Airfield on 5 & 6 Nov has been confirmed! Every cadet will be able to participate in a one-on-one 30 min lesson in a microlight aircraft.

Info forms were distributed last week and are available on the forms page. Note that CadetNet applications close this Thursday (27 October), so get in quick! No late applications will be accepted (due to aeroclub requirements).

Flying Activity – Save the Date

We are planning a flying weekend next term with provisional dates set for 5 and 6 November. Save the dates if you are interested.

At this stage we haven’t confirmed all of the details, but we anticipate the flying will be at Rangiora Airfield, and cadets will be able to show up for just their flying slot, so do not need to be free for the whole weekend. The cost will be subsidised by the unit.

Further details and a CadetNet activity will be released at the start of Term 4 if we are able to confirm the activity.

Air Skills Training

Every year, 17 squadron holds trainings to prepare keen cadets for our Skills competitions. This year, there will be 3 trainings. These will be held on the 16th of October, 12th of November, and 20th of November. Information forms will be handed out at the unit and will be available on the website forms page. Apply on Cadetnet if you are keen.
