Canterbury Aero Club Day

This Sunday (24th July) the Canterbury Aero Club is holding an Open / Club day at its Christchurch airport base. The day will have a youth focus, and is a great opportunity for those interested in a career in aviation to find out more.

Canterbury Aero Club have asked us to share the attached invite with interested cadets. The invite contains further details.

Please note this is not an NZCF activity, you do not have to apply on CadetNet and there will not be Cadet Force Officers attending, so parents/caregivers should accompany any cadets who attend.

International Air Cadet Exchange

This amazing program takes place once a year, in July, and sees cadets and officers head overseas with the IACE program for approx. 2.5 weeks, OR be a part of the inbound team that meets and greets the NZ bound cadets, and shows them around our amazing country. This notice is to advertise applications for the July 2023 exchange.

The program exchanges with the UK, USA and Canada every year plus one other nation (still to be confirmed for 2023). Chief of Defence pays 50% the Airfare for those traveling overseas. All accommodation, food and activity costs and arrangements are made by the host nation. So the costs to be paid are the balance of the Airfare, Insurance, Uniform charges and Admin Fee. Spending money is the responsibility of the Cadet.

Consideration will be given to NZCF personnel who:

Outbound (overseas):

  • Have completed the NZCF International Exchange Application Form (please click the link and download before editing)
  • Be no younger than 17 years old on the day they leave NZ (or 18 for the UK) and no older than 20yrs
  • Be able to fund part of the air fares and ancillary charges.

Inbound (within NZ):

  • You must be a SNCO
  • completed an NZCF 8 (please click the link and download before editing)

Cadets applying for IACE should start saving now as we will be purchasing flexible airfares to cover the group if any of them test positive and have to adjust their travel arrangements.  Insurance including Covid cover will also be an added expense. Please understand these exchanges are subject to NZDF Covid travel policies and directives up to and including dates of travel.

If this sounds like something you might enjoy, and you meet the criteria, we encourage you to apply! Applications must be emailed to the Unit Commander (kendyl.cole@cadetforces.org.nz) by 22 August. Selections are usually advised by early November and payment is required by 1 March 2023.

Remember, if you are not yet eligible, this exchange happens every year!
