Exercise Kākāpō – Aviation Camp

We are happy to confirm that we will be hosting an Aviation Camp – Exercise Kākāpō – on the 9-10th September, based at the Wigram HQ.

We have confirmed Microlight flying at Rangiora, and waiting to hear back on the final details regarding Gliding and hopefully a hanger tour… watch this space.

This camp will also include quality aviation and drones lessons! Our unit FPV Drones have arrived and we are keen to show you their capabilities.

Spaces are limited. Priority will be given to:

  • The cadets who missed out on flying in the Term 1 holidays due to weather.
  • Those who complete CadetNet applications and pay the quickest
  • Parade attendance and service length within the Unit.

Warning Order can be found here.

This event is on CadetNet to apply and on the Shop for payment ($50).

This is open to all cadets.

Kapa Haka 2023

Hi all, for those who haven’t heard, the Kapa Haka group is back for 2023. We will be holding our first meeting around 1800 at the block on Thursday. The Kapa Haka group will be performing a waiata and the NZCF Haka at the Final Parade held near the End of Year. To those interested in joining our social fun group, see SGT Kho or SGT Copplestone.

Noticeboard Error

Unfortunately, our noticeboard system sent out old information on Tuesday (1 Aug). Information on this post today (Thurs 3 Aug) should be current. We do have parade this Thurs and we are in formal uniform. See you tonight! 🙂

Formal uniform this week (3rd August 2023)

This week we will be wearing the formal 3B uniform (not CWD), as it is the first Thursday of the month. Make sure that you remember to bring everything including your jersey, name badge, belt, brassard, rank slides, and hat.

Make sure your uniform has your name on it!

Southern Area Air Skills – Selections

Every year Air Cadet units from around the South Island compete against one another for ultimate glory at the Southern Area Skills Competition. This event will be held at Burnham Military Camp over 29 Sept – 1 Oct this year. Winners of this event will go to the National Competition.

This competition tests your skills in Fitness, Marksmanship, First Aid, High Ropes, Rogaine, CFK/GSK Knowledge, Drill… and many more stands. We have won this event for many years and want to continue the streak!

We will hold tryouts for our team over the next few weeks on Thursday Nights at 5pm, before parade.

Even if you don’t make it in the team, there will be spaces for Cadets to attend as reserves and competition helpers, so still keep the date free…

Please turn up if you are keen, whether you have been in a team before or not. Any year level of Cadet is eligible to be in the team.

Come along in your PT gear, and bring a towel, soap, water bottle, and uniform to change into afterwards.
